You Om Namo Narayana Chant the mantra 12 times. Then mix some Gangajal in water and keep it in a silver, brass or earthen vessel. You can drink water by sitting like an animal with your knees and hands on the ground. By doing this, the fast will not be fruitless. But keep in mind that after drinking water in this way, you have to continue your fast and take food and water after Dwadashi Tithi only after breaking the fast with rituals the next day.
Apart from this, it is also mentioned in the scriptures that, during the fast, if the throat becomes dry due to thirst, then you can do aamchan. Or you can also do gargling. But while gargling, keep in mind that the water does not go down the throat.
